Job description

Support Worker/Mentor for a Teenage Boy - Mainly Evenings/Weekends but Very Flexible - LEEDS - LS27

Support worker needed mainly during weekends and evenings for one-to-one support for a 14-year-old boy with ADHD and some learning disabilities (no personal care needed).

Days and number of hours worked per day are very flexible.

We are based in Morley, LS27.

W is 14, but in the way he understands the world, he is more like an 8 or 9-year-old. He is quite naive and needs someone to look out for him as he is vulnerable and doesn't understand that people can't always be trusted. In some ways, he’s like a typical teenager and can have mood swings and be quite cheeky, so being patient and calm is important. He is also funny, chatty, and a bit silly at times. He enjoys activities such as going bowling, to the cinema, going out on drives, etc. We’d ideally like someone who is reasonably outdoorsy and active and can take him on various outings to help burn off some energy.

We’d also ideally like someone who has previous experience of working with neurodiverse children; however, the main thing is that you gel with W and vice versa. Due to W liking going out to do activities, a car driver/car owner is essential.

Basic rate is £12.40 per hour plus holiday pay. This equates to an FTE annual salary of £24,108.

Happy to discuss everything by phone if more information is needed.
