Job summary

Ability Housing Association in Slough is seeking a full-time Support Worker to provide recovery-focused support. You will help customers develop community networks to promote independence, with shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins.

You will support individuals living with mental illness or dual diagnosis, enabling daily living activities and safeguarding while liaising with mental health agencies as needed.

Qualifications

• Understanding of recovery principles and embedding recovery ethos in practice.
• Ability to assess an individual's situation and needs.
• Excellent communication skills.

• Ability to work on own initiative.

Responsibilities

• Provide outcomes-focused support to individuals living with mental illness or dual diagnosis.
• Enable self-management of personal and domestic resources and activities of daily living.
• Develop, review and monitor person-centered support and safety plans.
• Monitor and report on effectiveness of support delivery to senior staff.
• Contribute to safeguarding and protection from abuse or harm.
• Encourage mental wellbeing and independence in service users.
