Job description

MSC is seeking to employ experienced and committed Support Workers (SW) to work in our Multicultural Disability Services Program (MDSP):

What you’ll be doing:

  1. Providing in-home support including preparation of meals, cleaning, personal care, and more;
  2. Assisting with participating in community activities/events of their interests;
  3. Ensuring that the consumer’s dreams, goals, and abilities are promoted, developed, and achieved;
  4. Providing safe transport support to enable service users to access community and social activities;
  5. Facilitating the development and maintenance of relationships with family, friends, and service providers;
  6. Providing mentoring support.

We are looking for people that:

  1. Can build a positive supportive relationship with the consumer;
  2. Are committed to a person-centred approach in their work;
  3. Are passionate about supporting people;
  4. Can speak multiple languages with a current need for Bosnian/Serbian, Karen/Burmese, Vietnamese, and Auslan.

Things that matter to us:

  1. Certificate in individualised support (highly desirable);
  2. Previous experience working in the disability sector (highly desirable);
  3. Ability to engage and work from a respective framework for people/families supported;
  4. An understanding and/or experience of the needs of people from CaLD backgrounds;
  5. Valid WA driver’s license and a reliable private vehicle;
  6. Hold COVID-19 vaccination certificate;
  7. Hold or be prepared to obtain an NDIS check;
  8. Ability to work independently and show initiative.
