Job summary

Guardian Homecare is hiring Learning Disability Support Workers to support Basildon and surrounding areas. Shifts include days, evenings, and sleep-ins; full-time and part-time roles available.

You’ll deliver person-centred care promoting independence and wellbeing, with training provided and a driving requirement for community-based work. Roles cover empowerment, community access, personal care, medication support, and emotional support.

Responsibilities

  • Empowering independence: help individuals develop essential life skills (cooking, budgeting, household tasks).
  • Community access: support to college, shopping, hobbies, and social activities.
  • Personal care: dignified support with bathing, dressing and grooming.
  • Medication support: collecting prescriptions, reminders, and administration.
  • Emotional support: consistent, encouraging presence to build confidence.
  • Encourage social engagement and family connections.
  • Monitor wellbeing and report changes to healthcare professionals and family.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of support provided.
  • Respond to emergencies safely and effectively.
  • Work collaboratively with families and the wider care team.

Job Description

Qualifications

What You’ll Need (Besides a Cape!) Hold onto your hats, because you don't need any social care experience to join our merry band of care crusaders!

We offer full, paid training — all you need is a positive attitude, reliability, and the drive to champion independence.

Driving Requirement: Access to a vehicle and a full driving licence is strictly required due to the community-based nature of this role covering SS13, SS14, and SS15.
