Job description

We’re recruiting!

Join us as a Learning Disability Support Worker and help build a future where learning disabled people live the best life possible.

We know that life can be complicated for everybody. But some of us are stopped from working towards our dreams. Many learning disabled people won’t be heard about the support they’d like. Some won’t get to decide what they do for work or how to spend or save their money. Many won't get to try out the new hobbies they’d love to try.

But you can change all that.

Join our growing team in Bishop's Stortford, and get all the training you need to become a confident Support Worker.

Do you feel like our values - Kind, Diverse, Positive and Visionary - are a good match to your values? Then we’ve got lots in common already. Come on board and support learning disabled adults with those very values to develop skills, achieve their life goals, and thrive in your community.

What we offer you
  • Where you’ll be working: Pound Lane, Ugley, Bishop's Stortford CM22 6HP
  • Your salary: £12.77 per hour
  • Your working hours: We offer lots of flexibility to suit you and those you support. If you are interested in ‘Sleep ins’ we will pay you £58 per shift plus over 12% holiday pay.
  • Generous Holidays: 33 days of annual leave (including eight days statutory bank holidays).
  • Pay incentives: 10% overtime allowance, 20% Bank Holiday allowance, 50% for key dates over Christmas.
  • Training & development: Earn money while you get a fully funded Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care.
  • Lots of benefits: Health, retail and cash incentives to use how you want.

Pound Lane services consists of 5 individualised homes. The services are home to a varying, complex mix of people ranging from 25 up to 83 years old! We centre our support around providing personal care, medications, nutrition and hydration, finances, daily living skills, relationships and family, supporting appointments and managing correspondence. We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic candidates who enjoy giving back and can work on their own initiative and think outside of the box. The people we support have a varied range of interests including accessing their local communities, local clubs/pubs nights, colleges, theatres/shows, day trips, cooking, shopping, holidays, swimming, libraries, and local garden centres.

What you’ll be doing

Every day is different. You may be supporting someone to plan their weekly shop, going on an outdoor adventure, providing everyday personal care, or supporting someone to go to their favourite gig. You could be building someone’s confidence in using public transport or teaching money management skills. What’s important is supporting people to discover new interests, achieve new goals, and maintain important relationships with their family and friends.

You’ll provide the highest possible standard of care and support for learning disabled adults, listening to their wants and needs, enabling people to do daily tasks such as taking medication, cooking a meal, or working with them to build their confidence and take on new adventures they are longing for. All this while working a variety of shifts to support your work and home life balance.

It’s great if you have a full driving licence but it’s not a deal breaker.

We can’t wait to meet you at our Bishop’s Stortford services!

Find your place with us and change lives.
