Job summary

Leonard Cheshire at Wharfedale House in Wetherby, West Yorkshire, is hiring a full-time care assistant earning £13.38 per hour. You'll work 40.5 hours per week across four days, including some weekends, with flexible shifts. The role focuses on helping residents with daily living tasks and promoting independence in a supportive, home-like environment.

No previous care experience is required as full training is provided and a positive, empathetic attitude is valued.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a support worker with learning disabilities.
• Warm, friendly and empathetic approach.
• Willingness to work flexibly, including weekends.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Personal care experience (helpful, but not essential).

Responsibilities

• Support with daily living tasks such as personal care, mealtimes, and medication
• Encourage independence through a person-centred approach
• Accompany people to appointments, events, and community activities
• Keep clear, accurate records
• Most importantly - help each person live life on their own terms
