Job Description:

Avon Support Ltd is currently recruiting support workers to join our friendly team to support individuals in our day centre, in the community, and their own homes. As a support worker, you will be supporting people to develop life skills and promote independence, encouraging learning and developing skills that are fun and engaging!

Every day is fun and rewarding at Avon Support. You will have adventures helping people engage with their community, accompanying those we support on days with activities such as bowling, going to local clubs, the cinema, football, local cafes, shopping, and much more!

In our day centre, we have fun with a variety of activities, including cooking, baking, playing games, arts and crafts, flower arranging, and much more!

In our supported living services, you will encourage those we support to live as independently as possible, assisting with meal preparations, household duties, and getting ready for the day ahead. There is also an element of personal care in our supported living services.

Support Worker Role and Responsibilities:

  • Previous experience in a support worker role is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in organizing and facilitating group activities.
  • Knowledge of inclusive and accessible community resources.
  • Flexibility for sleeps/weekends/evening shifts.
  • Providing companionship and offering encouragement.
  • Household tasks, meal preparation, and shopping.
  • Monitoring any health conditions, assisting with medication, and attending appointments with healthcare professionals.
  • Ensuring safety and well-being and reporting any concerns.
  • Collaborating with families and other care professionals.
