Job description

Support Worker for a young person P/T@ £13.00/hr in Bristol - BRISTOL - BS5

Rate: £13 per hour
Hours: 5 per week
Shifts: Ideally a Thursday evening or Friday daytime
Location: BS5
Role:
This role will suit someone who is happy to be in the background of family life and take initiative to run the household. You will primarily be supporting a parent to support their child. As in, you can be making lunch whilst the parent engages with the child. Or, if you drive, you could drive parent and child to activities. The child has a complex neurodivergent profile and demand avoidance means they struggle with direct engagement from a PA. You will move between household tasks and playing with the child depending on the needs of the day. The child is developmentally around 8 and needs someone resilient who is not offended if he growls at you when overwhelmed. Generally, he is a happy child who likes to play board games, roblox, minecraft and hang around the house. If not put under pressure to join in he will gravitate towards things you are doing eg help with cooking. He often sits at the table chopping things with my PA (I have someone who supports me who will work different days to you). The role will mainly be organising/cooking/gardening. I have quite a large garden for living in the city.
Necessary criteria:
  • Able to work the shift pattern outlined above
  • Experience of neurodiversity
Desirable criteria:
  • Own car or drives
  • DBS check (I will pay for one if not)
If the above role suits you, please send a message outlining how you meet the necessary criteria and a bit about yourself. I am looking for someone to start asap.
