Support Worker for a young boy with Autism

Job Purpose: We are looking to recruit an additional Support Worker to join an existing team who provide 2:1 support for an 8-year-old male child with Autism. Experience of working with children and young people with Autism would be an advantage.

Responsibilities
  • Enable the child to access age-appropriate leisure activities within the local community.
  • Help him with his communication skills and personal care.
  • Respond sensitively, confidently and positively to any changes in behaviour.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • A driver with access to a car and business insurance is essential for this role.
  • An Enhanced DBS check is required (cost to be met by the Employer).
  • Experience and a positive understanding of working with children who have disabilities is preferred.
  • Genuine interest in working with children with complex needs.
  • Ability to respond positively, confidently and sensitively to changes in behaviour.
  • High degree of initiative, punctuality, reliability, flexibility, and a caring nature.
  • Respect confidentiality.
Hours and Compensation

7.5 hours per week in total, to be used as 2.5 hours per week every Wednesday and 5 hours per week every Saturday. Plus cover for holiday and any sickness absence wherever possible for other team members, with as much notice as possible being provided.

Rate of pay: £13.74 per hour. Holidays are 5.6 weeks per year, pro-rata. Out-of-pocket expenses will be met by the employer (e.g., mileage to and from home/activities; and cost of activities as agreed in advance with employer).
