Who will I be supporting?

  • You will be supporting people with mild learning disabilities and autism, to live their lives as independently as possible
  • In Kirkstall, we currently support three people within their own flats in the same building, and we also provide outreach support to people living independently in the community
  • One of the people we support is extremely creative and loves building models and creating things. Interests include Lego, Warhammer, Star Trek, YouTube, gaming, collections, buying/selling, and crafts. He can struggle with confidence to go out to new places and needs support to increase his outings. He has a great sense of humor and is enjoyable to be around but may need support to express this more and to manage feelings of being down or speaking negatively. He requires support to maintain health, well-being, and relationships.

What will I be doing?

  • Supporting individuals to live their lives how they choose, be themselves, and achieve their goals
  • Providing support with personal care (prompting only), medication, food shopping, bill payments, and domestic tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and laundry
  • Supporting individuals who may experience distress, helping build and maintain relationships, and providing emotional reassurance and positive behavior support—full training provided

What shifts are available?

  • Day shifts
  • Long shifts with sleepovers (24 hours)
  • Shared weekends, split equally among the team
  • Flexible rota basis including weekdays and weekends, with at least 4 weeks' notice for shifts to support work-life balance
