A leading support services organization in Newcastle upon Tyne is seeking an experienced Support Worker to engage with a client with autism. Responsibilities include supporting daily living skills, managing behaviors, and ensuring a supportive environment. The ideal candidate is reliable, patient, and passionate about making a difference. Competitive benefits and a focus on work-life balance are offered.
Caroline has autism and is very much into structure and routine in her daily life. She thoroughly enjoys watching films, TV series, such as Masked Singer! She also enjoys arts and crafts at home, buying all different kinds of stationery, getting her nails done, and looking through examples of nail art to help her decide what design she would like. Additionally, Caroline enjoys eating out and visiting attractions within the North East.
Caroline is very close to her family and maintaining this relationship is very important to her. She likes to spend regular time with them. Friendly, patient, and reliable support workers who take an active interest in her hobbies and activities would be wonderful matches.
As a support worker, you will be supporting Caroline to engage in community and home-based activities, as well as supporting her to learn life skills and elements of independence within the home. Support will include prompting of personal care, providing support if required, medication administration, budgeting, cooking, cleaning, and laundry.
Caroline can experience behaviors of distress, which can be through verbal and physical aggression, so previous experience supporting people with autism and complex behaviors is essential.
