VSA has an exciting opportunity available to join our Crosby House Service as a Support/Care Worker based in Aberdeen. This is a permanent position, offering a competitive salary and benefits.

Applicants should be fully experienced with UK procedures in Support Work within a residential setting. Dementia awareness training is preferable.

Hours: 32 hours per week

Rota: 7 days a week. You will be required to work a variety of shifts, including early/evening and every 2nd weekend.

Salary: £12.81 per hour

As part of our team, you will provide professional, caring, and effective support to our service users, ensuring they receive the best care possible.

Prior experience is welcome but not essential. However, you must be willing to undertake an SCQF Level 6 (equivalent to SVQ2) in Social Services and Healthcare if you do not already hold one.

Purpose of the Job:

To contribute to the delivery of quality services that meet the needs of service users, in accordance with VSA standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicate effectively with individuals, following agreed standards and procedures, and maintain accurate records.
  • Help provide a safe environment by adhering to health, safety, and security procedures, including medication management, and reporting incidents.
  • Support service users in their daily living, respecting their needs, providing personal care when necessary, and promoting wellbeing, choice, dignity, and respect.
  • Assist service users in developing and maintaining social networks and relationships.
  • Encourage and support service users to develop skills for independent living, considering risk assessments.
  • Participate in developing, implementing, and reviewing personal care plans with service users.
  • Support service users through significant life changes or losses.
  • Continuously develop your knowledge and skills through training and development activities.
  • Perform additional tasks as reasonably required within your capabilities.
  • Work within internal control systems to improve service quality.
