Job summary

Almond Care is an award-winning UK provider of complex care and supported living. We are seeking a dedicated Support Worker in Birmingham to help adults with challenging behaviour achieve independence in a safe environment.

You will travel between B27 and B28 on some days, provide emotional and practical support, assist with medications and daily tasks, and work with a team or independently to deliver high-quality care. Commitment to training and DBS check is required.

Qualifications

• Providing emotional support to individuals and their families.
• Providing practical support for individuals and their families, such as helping with household tasks, personal care and paperwork.
• Supporting and monitoring healthcare needs, including administering medication and temperature checks.
• Supporting them to pursue hobbies and interests.
• Supporting the learning of new skills or gaining employment.
• Teaching life skills, such as budgeting and paying bills.
• Helping with everyday tasks such as meal preparation, writing a shopping list, going shopping or maintaining their housing tenancy.
• Understanding their communication needs and adapting your communication to each individual.

Responsibilities

• Provide high standard of care to adults with challenging behaviour.
• Work as part of a team or independently to meet individual needs.
• Log all shifts accurately and notify manager of availability changes.
• Attend meetings as arranged by management.
• Complete accident/incident forms promptly and accurately.
• Participate in induction and mandatory training as agreed by management.
• Adhere to Almond Care policies and procedures.
