Job Title: Support Worker - Children’s Residential Home
Location: Ashbourne
Salary: Up to £26,150
Working Hour: Full-time, including shifts, weekends, and sleep-in duties
Service: Children’s Home
Service Users: Children with Learning Disabilities (LD)
Qualifications Required: Diploma Level 4 in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent (advantageous but not essential)
Experience in Years: Experience in working with children, particularly with learning disabilities or additional needs (desirable)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and support to children with learning disabilities, ensuring their safety, dignity, and well-being at all times.
• Assist with personal care tasks, including hygiene, dressing, and feeding, as required.
• Support children in educational and recreational activities, both within the home and in the community.
• Develop positive and trusting relationships with children, promoting emotional development and self-confidence.
• Implement and follow individual care plans tailored to the needs of each child.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external professionals to ensure holistic care.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and nurturing environment within the home.
• Monitor and document children’s progress, behaviours, and changes in needs.
• Support children in managing their emotions and behaviours using de-escalation techniques and positive reinforcement.
• Participate in team meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications and Skills

• Previous experience working with children, particularly those with learning disabilities or additional needs, is desirable.
• Diploma Level 4 in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent is advantageous but not essential.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Caring, empathetic, and patient approach to working with children.
• Ability to manage challenging behaviours professionally and calmly.
• Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
• Full driving licence, including business insurance.
