Job summary

Ayrshire Independent Living Network is seeking a flexible Support Worker/Buddy in Cumnock. The position requires approximately 4 hours per week, with a pay rate of £13.45 per hour. Responsibilities include providing social support and companionship to a young adult with Autistic Spectrum Disorder. Applicants must have experience, a valid driver's license, and be able to manage medications and seizures. A 6-month probationary period applies, along with provision of references and a PVG disclosure.

Support Worker / Buddy (P/T) Location: Cumnock.

Overview

Applicants must be flexible as hours of work/shifts will vary each week. Availability to do overnights during weekdays and weekends is required. The regular weekly hours will be a small amount required, roughly 4 hours per week.

Rate of pay: £13.45 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Provide social support and companionship within the local community, ensuring the young man's safety at all times.
• Offer patience and support to allow him to communicate his needs and feelings clearly due to his limited communication skills.
• Maintain continuity and consistency to meet his needs.
• Encourage and facilitate activities such as walks on nice days and use of the pool in the garden.
• Administer medication when required and manage seizures.

Qualifications and Experience

• Experience supporting young adults with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and managing associated seizures.
• Ability to recognize anxieties and associated behaviours.
• Valid driver’s licence with own car and full clean licence; business insurance required.
• Will be paid mileage allowance for using own car.

Probationary Period

Position subject to a 6-month probationary period.
