About the Role:

As part of the team, you will be supportingM, who lives in his own home in Brixham. M moved into his home in 2022 after spending several years in hospital in Cardiff. M is looking for someone to join his team that can support him in his own home and further enhance his daily life.

We would like M’s support team to learn as much about M as possible. This includes observations from existing carers of M’s, to interacting with those around him. Knowledge of M: anxiety, quiet moments and interests are vital to understand for all supporting M in his home. M has trouble understanding the social norms of life, but he does have a high level of intelligence that includes reading, writing, excellent memory, operating a laptop, iPad, games, and he also enjoys pen and paper hangman. Patience and flexibility with M are important and there are numerous interests he finds enjoyment in which include music, dance, stories, film scenes – called up from the internet – films and comedy series.

M also likes going out for daily drives in his car and likes Horrid Henry and Only Fools and Horse’s sitcom. M likes staff that are creative, tell funny jokes and draw his favourite characters from Horrid Henry.

Requirements:

A UK Driver’s Licence or international driving licence with at least 6 months left before expiry and access to your own vehicle and Business Insurance is essential.

Working Patterns:

40 hours per week.

2 Week Rolling Rota as follows:

Week 1

Monday – 07.00 – 21.00

Wednesday – 07.00 – 22.00 & Sleep-In (Shift ends at 07.00)

Thursday – 07.00 – 21.00

Week 2

Tuesday – 07.00 – 21.00

Wednesday – 07.00 – 21.00

Sunday – 07.00 – 22.00 & Sleep-In (Shift ends at 07.00)

Although rotas could be subject to change in the event of staff emergencies or staff annual leave, so potential candidates require flexibility.
