Job description

Mencap are seeking a Support Worker/Befriender to work with two ladies in the Sherburn area of County Durham supporting them each for 4hours per week. With the total hours of 8 per week if would be beneficial if candidates lives local to the Sherburn area.

As a Support Worker/Befriender, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities, supporting with things such as: shopping; household chores; cooking; day trips; attending social groups; increasing confidence on public transport; increasing and promoting independence; attending medical appointments; collecting medication.

There are other people we support in the area close to Sherburn so you would be able to pick up extra shifts if you wanted to, this can be discussed further at interview.

What we're looking for:

· A genuine passion for supporting others.

· Excellent communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships.

· Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

· A positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities.

Contract options:

· Contract - Part-time 8hrs per week with potential of more which would be discussed at interview
