Job summary

UK Addiction Treatment Centres (UKAT) seeks a Bank Support Worker at Linwood House in Barnsley. You will provide practical and emotional support to clients, helping create a safe, structured environment to foster recovery, on a zero-hours contract with flexible shifts.

The role offers opportunities to learn, develop, and work as part of a multidisciplinary team, with emphasis on client-centred care and recovery planning in a busy rehab setting.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent).
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Clear verbal and written communication at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Excellent listening skills with an empathetic approach.
  • Strong negotiation and boundary-setting abilities.
  • A calm, non-judgmental attitude, even under pressure.
  • Good customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide practical and emotional support to clients toward abstinence.
  • Assist therapists in risk management planning and reviews.
  • Ensure clients follow programme guidelines and assist in investigations.
  • Complete client intakes, assessments, and discharges.
  • Maintain accurate records and update client databases.
  • Coordinate transfers and referrals between agencies.
  • Assist with medication reminders and conduct audits.
  • Help clients develop recovery plans tailored to needs.
  • Support clients with external appointments and transport.
  • Assist with life skills, housing, benefits, daily living support.
