Position: Support Worker

Salary: £12 to £14 per hour

Job Type: Full Time

About the Role

We are now hiring full-time and part-time staff for home and community-based programmes across North West London, including Brent, Haringey, and Hillingdon. Applicants must have a clean UK driver’s license and be able to drive an automatic car. Part-time positions require availability for one weekday, plus Saturday and Sunday.

As part of our dedicated team, you’ll support individuals with autism and learning disabilities, focusing on life skills development and community participation. We welcome applications from experienced graduates, professionals looking to transition into care work, and those with backgrounds in ABA or PBS settings.

We operate 7 days a week, and successful candidates should be available to work both weekdays and weekends.

Hours:

Monday to Friday: 3 PM – 9 PM / 9 AM – 6 PM
Saturday: 9 AM – 3 PM / 1 PM – 9 PM
Sunday: 1 PM – 9 PM

Main Duties
  • To assist in the implementation of person centred programmes utilising Applied Behaviour Analysis and Positive Behaviour Support best practice
  • To support service users by teaching functional skills, developing communication systems, enhancing social skills under a framework that provides choice and promotes empowerment.
  • To monitor and take accurate data daily as per service users’ targets
  • To support individuals during times of crisis – e.g., challenging behaviour.
  • To ensure all programme materials are organised and accessible
  • To assist service user with self-help skills including personal care and hygiene needs (e.g., toileting, nappy changing, feeding, bathing, nail cutting, and medication)
  • To model best practice and professionalism at all times
  • To attend mandatory trainings, team meetings and self-directed e-learning modules
  • To promote safeguarding and wellbeing for service user to the highest standard
  • To implement restrictive techniques per service users positive handling plan as required
  • Flexibility to support service user during evenings and weekends
  • Other duties as required by your manager
Qualifications
  • 1 year of applied experience working with individuals with a diagnosis of learning disability and/or autism
  • Experience of supporting individuals who are non-verbal, with experience of promoting alternative modes of communication.

Preferred qualifications

  • Undergraduate Degree in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, or related field
  • 1+ year of applied experience working with special needs population
  • Experience of managing challenging behaviour
