Job summary

Cygnet Hospital Woking is seeking a female Support Worker for Acorn Ward, a PICU service for men and women. You will work with nursing staff on admissions, assessments and discharges, focusing on dignity and safety while provided with full training and induction.

Role involves 38.5 hours per week on a 12‑hour rota, including days, nights and weekends. A free shuttle bus operates from Woking station. Sponsorship is not offered and visa remaining time is required.

Responsibilities

• Support the MDT in implementing treatments and therapy per care plans.
• Assist and complement qualified nurses.
• Perform safe observations of patients, sometimes 1:1.
• Meet physical and emotional needs with care and empathy.
• Support individual or group activities to promote wellbeing.
• Maintain a safe, clean living and working environment.
• Adhere to safeguarding guidelines.
• Participate in de‑escalation and PMVA training as needed.

Cygnet Hospital Woking offers a range of mental health services for men and women in a purpose-built therapeutic environment where the focus is on maximising positive outcomes and recovery.

We are currently recruiting female Support Workers for Acorn Ward, our female PICU service.

As an active member of our dynamic team, you’ll provide support for our nursing staff including the admission, assessment, implementation and discharge of inpatients, with a focus on dignity and safety at all times.

You will receive full training and Induction into the role and work on average 38.5hrs per week covering 12 hour shifts on a rota basis including days, nights and weekends.

We also operate a free shuttlebus service to pick up/drop off staff from Woking train station.

Please note: We do not offer Sponsorship for this role and you will need to have at least 12 months or more remaining on your current visa if you are on a dependent or post graduate visa

In This Role You’ll

• Work as part of the Multi-Disciplinary Team to support implementation of the treatments and therapy as per the service users’ care plans.
• Compliment and provide support to the qualified nurses.
• Undertake safe observations of patients sometimes on a 1:1 basis or with other staff.
• Meet the physical and emotional needs of the service users in a caring and empathic manner.
• Play an active role in maintaining physical and mental wellbeing by providing and supporting individual or group work.
• Maintain a safe, clean and enjoyable environment to live and work in.
• Work within Safeguarding guidelines
• Undertake training in de‑escalation and PMVA techniques to support patients with potentially aggressive behaviours towards themselves or others
