SAMH is dedicated to mental health and wellbeing for all: with a vision of a society where people are able to live their lives fully, regardless of present or past circumstances.

For Scotland’s Mental Health

Post: Support Worker 2

Ref: REC1776

Location: North Lanarkshire

whilst this is a scale for progression, the starting salary is point 13

Contract: Permanent

About the Role

SAMH is currently looking to recruit Support Workers across our North Lanarkshire Support Service. As a key worker you will establish positive relationships and offer practical and emotional support to the people who use our services and have severe and enduring mental health problems.

Everyone we support is different and we use individually tailored plans to help them to identify where their strengths lie and support them in the areas where they may need it. In this role your attitude and personality matter as much as your skills and experiences. We are looking for initiative, compassion, energy and determination with the ability to motivate and inspire people who use our services to develop their skills and self-confidence and realise their aspirations. This is a challenging and exciting opportunity and you will go home each day knowing you made a difference.

What we are looking for

Respect and dignity for the people who use our services is at the heart of everything we do. You don’t need any specific qualifications, but what you do need is the right attitude and values. We will ask you to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) membership scheme and register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC). We’re looking for people with great people skills who are honest, reliable and resilient in challenging situations.

This post will involve flexible working across the North Lanarkshire Area and our office is based in Airdrie. With a variety of shift patterns to suit the needs of the people we support including day shifts, backshifts and weekends, you will be flexible in the hours and shifts you are available to work. The post will involve travel across various locations in North Lanarkshire so access to your own transport is essential.

What we will provide for you

You will work in a supportive environment and will be provided with a full induction and training opportunities. You will be given the chance to develop your knowledge and skills, as well as develop professionally. Some of our benefits include;

· Fully funded SVQ qualification to meet the conditions of your SSSC registration

· Reimbursement of PVG, Disclosure & SSSC annual fees and registration costs.

· Funded continuous learning and development opportunities, access to over 100 courses online in addition to classroom and virtual training sessions

· 30 days annual leave rising to 33 after 5 years’ service

· 4 public holidays

· 2 paid wellbeing days off per year to use on what matters to you

· Team wellbeing budgets

· Workplace pension scheme

· Life Assurance policy

· Employee Assistance Programme

Closing date for applications will be 12 noon, Thursday 14th August 2025.

PVG Scheme Membership, a Right to Work in the UK check and proof of any qualifications declared in your application will be required.

Applications are welcome from people who have experienced mental health difficulties.

Please note we reserve the right to close this vacancy early should we receive a high level of applicants and would encourage you to submit your application as early as possible.
