Job Description

Our teams provide care and support for individuals with different conditions at Priory sites all across the UK.

Your positive attitude and passion for providing high quality care and support will be your key strengths, but you'll also have a friendly, patient and positive approach to work.

You will provide support with day to day activities, whilst encouraging and promoting independent living. As part of our team, you'll help people reach their potential, through both practical and emotional support, making a positive difference to their lives.

It would be ideal if you have previous experience gained in a similar role. However whilst this is valuable, we are looking for individuals who display the right values and behaviours in order to make a difference to people's lives. You should be keen to learn and show compassion to care for the people we support.

Responsibilities
  • Encouraging people to live as independently as possible, while supporting them in building their life skills and achieving goals at their own pace
  • Supporting tenants in a person centred way, which can include assisting with personal care, participation in activities and support with daily living skills, including maintenance of their tenancy
  • Complete daily administration of electronic and paper records with the involvement of the individual as appropriate
  • Supporting the individual in maintaining their health and wellbeing, which may involve liaising with other specialists
  • Supporting and encouraging the individual's participation and integration in the local community through activities and interests that meet their ambitions and help them achieve outcomes in their chosen way
  • Embedding the REACH standards in everyday practice
  • Following company policies and procedures
Qualifications and Skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and resilience
  • Demonstrating initiative and the ability to work in a person centred way
  • Ability to work alongside people to develop their potential and skills
  • Empathy, understanding and patience
  • Ability to work on your own and as part of a team
  • Competent in verbal and written English
  • A social care qualification is desirable, but not essential
  • To be considered for this role, we require you to have the right to work in the UK. A driving licence is desirable, although not essential.
Additional Information:

Ardsley House is located in East Ardsley, near Wakefield. It offers residential support for 13 males and females with a range of needs. This includes adults with a primary learning disability diagnosis, individuals with a physical disability, mental health needs and people on the autism spectrum.

Our goal is to provide a homely environment and work with each individual we support on a person- centred basis to create and achieve goals to meet their own expectations. We want to ensure that everyone we care for is encouraged and supported to have the best life and to be as independent as possible. We recognise that people with a learning disability have the same aspirations and expectations as everyone else and should be empowered to achieve these.

Disclosure

All roles will be subject to a successful disclosure at an appropriate level from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), Access NI or Disclosure Scotland, and the cost of this will be covered by Priory.
