Job Summary
Support people with learning disabilities to live full, happy lives at Bradbury Court, Storrington. Pay £13.49 per hour plus allowances.
Location & Hours
Location: Bradbury Court, Storrington, West Sussex.
Hours: 37 per week, including evenings, bank holidays and alternate weekends. Pay includes unsociable hours uplift (£4.51 per night shift) and sleep‑in shift allowance (£61 per shift).
Responsibilities
- Encourage clients to participate in community activities such as walks, cinema, shopping and café visits.
- Support daily living tasks: cooking, cleaning, personal care.
- Build clients’ confidence and independence through empowering care.
- Assist with mobility, support long walks, and provide personal care as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Patient and empathetic approach.
- Completion of Southdown’s training in health & social care, moving and handling, Positive Behaviour Support, safeguarding, and health protocols.
- Willingness to support intimate and personal care needs.
- Enhanced DBS check (paid for by Southdown).
- A full manual driving licence is required.
- Physical ability to assist with mobility and undertake long walks.
- Suitable for the Equality Act 2010 considerations (possible sex‑specific restrictions based on client needs).
Nice to have
- Experience supporting people with physical or cognitive disabilities, learning disabilities, or mental health issues.
- Experience handling challenging behaviour.
- Knowledge of medication administration and record‑keeping.
- Previous professional or personal care experience.
- Familiarity with Makaton or other non‑verbal communication methods.
