Job summary

Southdown seeks a dedicated Care Worker to support people with learning disabilities at Bradbury Court, Storrington. You will help residents participate in community activities, support daily living tasks, and build confidence and independence.

Hours are 37 per week, including evenings, bank holidays and alternate weekends. Pay is £13.49 per hour plus allowances, with night shift uplift and sleep‑in shifts included in a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Patient and empathetic approach.
• Complete Southdown’s training in health & social care, moving and handling, Positive Behaviour Support, safeguarding, and health protocols.
• Willingness to support intimate and personal care needs.
• Enhanced DBS check (paid for by Southdown).
• Full manual driving licence required.
• Physical ability to assist with mobility and undertake long walks.
• Equality Act 2010 considerations (possible sex-specific restrictions based on client needs).

Location & Hours

Location: Bradbury Court, Storrington, West Sussex.

Hours: 37 per week, including evenings, bank holidays and alternate weekends. Pay includes unsociable hours uplift (£4.51 per night shift) and sleep‑in shift allowance (£61 per shift).

Nice to have

• Knowledge of medication administration and record‑keeping.
• Previous professional or personal care experience.
• Familiarity with Makaton or other non‑verbal communication methods.
