Job summary

Mencap is seeking a dedicated Support Worker in Selby for a permanent, part-time role (18 hours per week). You will support individuals to live more independently while promoting choice, dignity and wellbeing.

You will work with a diverse group of people with learning disabilities, requiring excellent communication and a patient, empathetic approach. Shifts include mornings, evenings and weekends; full training will be provided.

Qualifications

• A genuine passion for supporting others.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• A positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities.
• Drivers are essential for this service.
• Experience within the care sector is an advantage but not a necessity as full training will be provided.

Job Description

We are looking for Support Workers to join our service in Selby on a permanent, part-time basis (18 hours).

We are looking to grow our team of dedicated, caring and enthusiastic support workers. You will be working with a diverse group of people, each with their own unique abilities and needs. You will be expected to provide an outstanding level of support that will help to ensure the people we support live a happy life. You will have excellent communication skills and be a naturally caring and patient personality.

Working Hours and Locations

Shifts will be spread across mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends and bank holidays so flexibility is key. Certain services will also have sleep-in shifts or waking night shifts as well. We prepare the rotas at least 4 weeks in advance so you can still plan your personal and social life!
