Role Description – Mental Health Support Worker

Gray Healthcare is recruiting a team of mental health support workers within the Salford area of Manchester to support a gentleman in his 40s with Organic Personality Disorder and dysarthria, resulting from brain injury. He lives independently and receives 2:1 support 24 hours a day. The individual has a good sense of humour, enjoys fitness and the gym, and is a Manchester United football fan. Support will be provided by a male-only team on mixed shifts of days and waking nights. We are recruiting drivers only for this role, as the individual has access to a mobility vehicle for community access.

Mental Health Support Worker Required Skills and Experience

  • Full UK Driving License – Essential
  • Social care experience, ideally within mental health, with some experience supporting individuals with Schizophrenia
  • Experience encouraging individuals with complex health needs and Learning Disabilities
  • Experience supporting individuals with challenging behaviours
  • Experience implementing detailed care plans and risk assessments
  • Current Right to Work in the UK and employment in the UK for at least 6 months; no sponsorship available
  • Subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references

Hours

Options include:

  • 24-hour contract: 2x12-hour day shifts per week + 1 sleep shift at £100 per sleep
  • 36-hour contract: 3x12-hour day shifts per week + 1 sleep shift at £100 per sleep

Induction and Training

Initial week of online training covering company induction, systems, and medication. Followed by in-person training on PROACT-SCIPr-UK, a PBS approach to least restrictive practice, an effective alternative to restraint. Additional person-centred training specific to the individual supported. Ongoing training and career development are encouraged.
