Job summary

Rutherford Care in Manchester is recruiting compassionate, reliable Support Workers for immediate opportunities in Manchester and surrounding areas. You will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, person-centred care to vulnerable adults in a variety of settings.

Ideal candidates are empathetic, resilient, flexible to weekend and night shifts, and committed to safeguarding; you will work with a dedicated compliance and bookings team to provide ongoing, reliable support.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a support or care role (preferred)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A caring, patient, and resilient approach
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including weekends and nights if required
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Deliver person-centred care: provide tailored support in line with individual care plans
  • Promote independence, choice and inclusion
  • Assist with daily living tasks including personal care, meal preparation and mobility support
  • Support with medication prompts (in line with training and policy)
  • Monitor and report changes in physical or mental health
  • Encourage engagement in social and community activities
  • Behaviour & emotional support: support individuals who may present behaviours of concern
  • Apply de-escalation techniques where required
  • Maintain a calm, professional approach in challenging situations
  • Professional standards & compliance: follow safeguarding, health & safety, and infection control procedures
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and multidisciplinary teams
  • Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times

The Role

As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in empowering individuals to live independently, safely, and with dignity. This is a hands‑on and rewarding role suited to individuals who are empathetic, resilient, and committed to maintaining high standards of care.

Key Responsibilities
Deliver Person-Centred Care

Provide tailored support in line with individual care plans

Promote independence, choice, and inclusion

Assist with daily living tasks including personal care, meal preparation, and mobility support where required

Support with medication prompts (in line with training and policy)

Monitor and report changes in physical or mental health
