Support Worker

Would you love to make a positive difference in people’s lives every day? We are seeking Support Workers to work within day and outreach settings, supporting adults with autism to achieve their personal goals and outcomes.

You will be working for a charity dedicated to helping create a more autism-friendly society. You will make a positive difference in people's lives every day. Position: Support Worker (Vocational and Community Services)

Location: Hunslet and Armley, Leeds - You will work at a number of locations across the city, including community settings, and at both of the bases at LS10 1BX and LS12 1TZ

Hours: full and part time hours available (min of 21 hours), Mon to Fri with shifts between the hours of 8:30 and 6pm.

Salary: £12.60 per hour

About the role:

As a Support Worker you will help to improve the lives of the adults supported by promoting understanding and acceptance of people with autism, and helping them to be included and feel valued within their communities. You will be committed to maximising personal liberties and enabling people to make choices and decisions about their own lives. To ensure the highest standards of support are provided to the people who are supported, you will work within local and national guidelines and always strive to provide the best experience for service users.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting people to develop their skills
  • Identifying opportunities for personal development
  • Developing confidence and self-esteem
  • Promoting physical and mental wellbeing
  • Supporting people to plan their own support
  • Facilitating communication and social understanding
  • Helping people to develop coping strategies and manage behaviour
  • Providing practical and emotional support

About you:

You don’t need to have worked in supported social care before to apply for this role, if you are caring, kind, and patient this is for you. Experience isn’t essential, we are looking for people who can uphold the values of the organisation and make a difference in people’s lives daily.

You will need to be able to empathise and advocate for the needs of people with autism, as well as great communication skills and basic IT skills.
