Job summary

One Fylde is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to empower individuals with learning disabilities and autism to live vibrant, independent lives. You will enable daily adventures, foster community connections, and champion personal growth.

No previous experience required—full training provided. You will be a life coach, helping with daily tasks, budgeting, cooking, and guiding clients to participate in activities within the community, with occasional evenings and weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• Compassionate and patient approach to supporting people with learning disabilities and autism.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a quality, safe, and comfortable living environment for those supported.
• Follow support plans and liaise with families and social services as needed.
• Advocate for rights and needs of the people we support.
• Support individuals to live more independently and participate in activities.

At One Fylde we like to view our Support Workers more as "life coaches" being able to provide guidance to the people we support as well as have the tools and knowledge of handling bills, supporting to increase one's self esteem, be an agony aunt, a chef when helping with cooking and a tour guide when travelling abroad!

Our focus is to support people to live as independently as possible, to maintain their home environment, and manage their health, finances, social activities, hobbies and interests, this could be anything from supporting someone to manage their weekly shop, visit friends and family or even to go on Holiday.

Not every day is the same in supported living, you have to be adaptable to the people you are supporting and punctual with your time management. Most of our support revolves around supporting our individuals to access the community whether this is supporting someone swimming, to the cinema, golf or slimming world.

For those of you who have not done support work before, full training will be given, in fact we offer full and wide-ranging training opportunities for all, in a charity that encourages personal development.

Key responsibilities:

• Maintaining a quality service
• Ensuring that the people we support have a safe, appropriate, and comfortable living environment.
• Communicating effectively with both internal and external stakeholders, including families and social services.
• Following support plans and other relevant information regarding how to assist the people we support, including Health and Safety requirements.
• Advocate for the rights and needs of the people we support.
