Job summary

Apex Recruit Ltd in Horsham is seeking a Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to provide safe, compassionate, patient-centred care and support nurses and doctors with routine clinical and non-clinical duties, within defined competencies and supervision.

You will assist with personal hygiene, nutrition and mobility, take vital signs, observe patients and maintain accurate records while upholding dignity and confidentiality in a collaborative healthcare team.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with personal hygiene, nutrition, mobility and activities of daily living.
• Measure and record vital signs such as BP, pulse, temperature, SpO₂, height and weight.
• Support clinical procedures such as ECGs, blood collection, urine testing, dressings and injections where trained and authorised.
• Observe patients and promptly report changes in condition to the nurse/clinician.
• Maintain accurate patient records and confidentiality.
• Collect, label and handle clinical/laboratory samples appropriately.
• Assist with infection prevention, cleaning and equipment safety checks.
• Restock clinical supplies and maintain treatment areas.
• Provide emotional support while maintaining patient dignity, privacy and respect.
• Work collaboratively with nurses, doctors and the wider healthcare team
