Job summary

C caring Locals is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to provide person-centred assistance to young people aged 16–18 living in semi-independent accommodation in Greater London. You will help them develop budgeting, cooking, education, employment, and daily life skills while promoting confidence and resilience.

The role emphasizes safeguarding, accurate records, welfare checks, and collaboration with social workers and other professionals to ensure safe, healthy living in line with Ofsted

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a care assistant or similar role (16+ semi-independent accommodation preferred).
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or working towards qualification).
  • Training in Safeguarding, Positive Behaviour Support, Trauma informed care, and Food Hygiene.
  • Knowledge of infection control and care documentation practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, person-centred support to young people aged 16–18, promoting independence and positive outcomes.
  • Support development of essential life skills: budgeting, cooking, cleaning, shopping, tenancy management.
  • Encourage engagement in education, employment, training and community activities.
  • Build professional relationships while maintaining boundaries and safeguarding young people.
  • Identify, record, and report safeguarding concerns in line with policies and procedures.
  • Conduct welfare checks, key work sessions, and support plan reviews.
  • Maintain confidential records, daily logs, incident reports and risk assessments.
  • Work with social workers, local authorities, families and other professionals to achieve positive outcomes.

Job description

As a Support Worker, you will provide person-centred support to young people aged 16–18 living in semi-independent accommodation, helping them develop the skills needed for independent living. You will support with budgeting, cooking, education, employment, appointments, emotional wellbeing, and daily life skills while promoting confidence and resilience. You will maintain accurate records, complete key work sessions, and work closely with social workers and other professionals. You will safeguard young people by recognising and reporting concerns promptly, maintain professional boundaries, and ensure all support is delivered in line with Ofsted standards, safeguarding legislation, and Caring Locals' policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality, person-centred support to young people aged 16–18, promoting independence and positive outcomes.
  • Support young people to develop essential life skills, including budgeting, cooking, cleaning, shopping, and tenancy management.
  • Encourage engagement in education, employment, training, and community activities.
  • Build positive, professional relationships while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
  • Safeguard young people by identifying, recording, and reporting any concerns in line with safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular welfare checks, key work sessions, and support plan reviews.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records, including daily logs, incident reports, and risk assessments.
  • Promote emotional wellbeing, resilience, equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Work collaboratively with social workers, personal advisers, local authorities, families, and other professionals to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Respond appropriately to incidents, emergencies, missing-from-home episodes, and behavioural concerns, following company procedures.
  • Ensure the accommodation remains safe, clean, and compliant with health and safety requirements.
  • Attend supervision, team meetings, and mandatory training, maintaining professional standards at all times.
  • Uphold the values, policies, and procedures of Caring Locals and work in accordance with the Supported Accommodation (England) Regulations, Ofsted Standards, and safeguarding legislation.
