Hismain interests are sports, which include football,cricketand rugby. He is abigLeeds United fan as we originate from Leeds.
He also likes to listen to music, he has quite an eclectic taste but particularly likes David Bowie, Oasis, Jam, Eagles, Earth Wind and Fire, Michael Jackson.
He likes nothing more than a drive to Hornsea for his favorite fish and chips.
About the roleThe main support werequireis for respite carein the form ofcompanionship. He has spent the past 10 months either at home or inhospitalsohas had little social interactions.Ideallywe are looking for someone with an outgoing and strong personality to help him come out of his shell.
As some of this respite care could be around mealtimes then preparing a snack or meal for him would be expected. This time will also involve personal care and assisting him with going to the toilet, although he currently manages this himself. He also takes numerous medications throughout the day, so the PA would need experience in giving medication at the correct times.
The role is togenerallykeephimcompany and ensure he is safe.
HoursWe are flexible ondaysand timesas the right person to behiscompanion is more important.
We envisage that the10 hours would be broken down into 3 blocks of 2x3 and 1x4 hour sessionseach week, however there may be occasions when the 10 hours could be used in larger blocks of 8-10 hours in one week.
We are happy to also be flexibletothe working and home life pattern of his PA.

The Direct Payments Support Service is an in-house service provided by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council. The service promotes independent choice and inclusion, allowing our service users to employ their own care and support as needed. We support many individuals with varying abilities, assisting with advertising and recruitment for a range of roles including support workers, carers and personal assistants.
Some travel across East Riding of Yorkshire may be required, applicants must be able to transport themselves.
