Job summary

Dimensions in Poundbury, Dorchester, is seeking compassionate, full-time Support Workers to assist five gents aged 40-60 living across four flats in a supported-living setting.

You’ll help with daily tasks, promote independence, join in activities such as swimming and arts and crafts, and support safe travel and community participation.

• Support individuals with daily living tasks and activities in a supported-living setting.
• Encourage independence and social participation during community activities.
• Assist with personal care prompting and mobility as needed.

About the role

You’ll be joining a friendly and lively team in a supported-living setting, home to five gents aged 40-60, living across four neighbouring flats. They’re a sociable group who enjoy a mix of independence, routine, and community activities.

Who You’ll Support

Two independent gents who manage most daily tasks with minimal support and three individuals who enjoy structured activities such as:

• Day services
• Swimming
• Dance, arts and crafts
• Pub lunches
• Car boot sales
• Home-based activities

Communication & Support Needs

• Limited verbal communication - Makaton is used
• Prompting with personal care rather than full assistance
• Very mobile individuals who enjoy being out and about
• Use of public transport is part of daily life and activities

About you

• Comfortable working variety of shifts includinglong-days, sleep-ins and alternate weekends. Sleep in payments are £50 per sleep in, which equates to an additional £2,400 per annum sleep in payments (based on 48 weeks of the year).
