Job summary

CareTech Community Services in Dewsbury is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to help children and young people aged 3–18 with learning disabilities. Based in a welcoming home, you’ll assist with daily routines, personal care and engaging activities, while building trusting relationships.

You’ll work long day shifts with early starts, late evenings, weekends and sleep-ins, with comprehensive training provided and robust DBS support. Salary is paid per hour.

Pay: £13.86 -£14.61 per hour
Work Patterns -You will work rewarding long day shifts including early starts, late evenings, weekends and sleep in’s fairly planned within the rotas.

What You’ll Do

As a support worker you will support young people with their daily routines; Personal Care, getting them ready for school, prepping for meal times and planning activities through to bed time. You will also:

  • Create a warm, homely environment by helping with light housekeeping.
  • Build strong, meaningful relationships and provide emotional support.
  • Plan and join fun activities like trips to the park, popcorn & movie nights or creative projects.
  • Keep essential records for high-quality care
Where You’ll Do It

This beautiful large five bedded detached home (previously a working farm house) surrounded by corn fields and beautiful woodland walks, our children benefit from the quiet, secluded, setting which provides access to a welcoming and truly holistic environment. All our young people personalise their bedrooms to their preference.

The home provides specialist support to young people (male, female and non-binary genders) who present with learning disabilities, pre-verbal and non-verbal, autistic spectrum disorders and other complex needs. Each young person is respected and valued as an individual. Care approach and planning is tailored to address the specific and changing needs of each individual. The ethos of the home is to offer young people a lifestyle in which they can achieve positive outcomes in all areas.

The Team have genuine love and care for our children and provide a safe, warm home where the children are supported ‘one to one’ and are encouraged to show their feelings, to express love and inclusivity. Our children are very tactile, forgiving and humorous, with every achievement and small step, truly celebrated.
