A family support service is seeking a part-time SEN Support Worker in West London to assist an 11-year-old boy with cerebral palsy and epilepsy. The role involves supporting therapy routines, engaging in activities, and requires a confident driver. Hours include two weekdays and Sundays, with competitive pay rates of £18.80 on weekdays and £20.80 on weekends.
Overview of role: On arrival from school Fen really enjoys quiet time / rest after a busy day at school, and then his SEN Support Worker will assist with his therapy routines and goals, as set by his therapists. His family and team work very hard in keeping Fen infection free so there may be days when he does not attend school, if his SEN Support Worker could start earlier on these days, that would be greatly appreciated. Fen will not require his SEN Support Worker to assist with his sleep routine, as he typically has a cuddle with Mum, and drifts off to sleep, although you will be assisting with personal hygiene and getting into his pajamas etc. Sunday activities will typically be planned by Fen and his family (but they are keen to hear if there is any exciting events happening) depending on the weather, local walks, drives in and around town, going out to interactive theatre, or indoor games and of course lots of chatting and laughter. Fen's mum is a wonderful cook
so there are always fabulous smells emanating from the kitchen.
Who this job would suit: Someone who really understands working within a family unit, sensitive to the needs and wishes of Fen's family, who is gentle and warm in their approach. A confident driver is a must and ideally happy to travel - there will be two trips this year, one to Dubai.
