Support Worker - Young People (Under 18) - Eastergate, Chichester - Days & Nights offered

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people?

We're working in partnership with a dedicated client, local to Eastergate, Chichester who provides supported living for young people under the age of 18. They are seeking a compassionate and experienced Support Worker to join their team and help create a safe and nurturing environment for these young individuals.

About the Role:

In this rewarding role, you will be providing essential support to young people who have experienced trauma and neglect, which may have resulted in mental health and attachment issues. You will play a crucial part in helping them to access education, promoting their personal well-being and care, and developing their independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Providing direct support and guidance to young people in a supported living environment.
  2. Building positive and trusting relationships with young people, fostering a sense of safety and security.
  3. Supporting young people to access education and engage in positive activities.
  4. Promoting personal well-being and care, including emotional and practical support.
  5. Working closely with the Local Authority and professionals within Social Services, including MASH.
  6. Implementing and monitoring individual care plans, ensuring they are regularly reviewed and updated.
  7. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records and files.
  8. Effectively managing challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner.
  9. Completing all mandatory training as required by the company.
  10. Working a 40 hour week, with 1 weekend off per month.
  11. Available for either days or night shifts.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Support Worker, preferably with young people.
  2. Strong safeguarding awareness and knowledge of child protection procedures.
  3. Experience working with young people who have experienced trauma and neglect.
  4. Ability to work effectively in partnership with external agencies, including the Local Authority and MASH.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  6. Ability to manage challenging behaviour effectively.
  7. Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
  8. Right to work in the UK (sponsorship is not offered).
  9. Enhanced DBS check (update service preferred).
