Position: Support Team Leader
Location: York
Salary: From GBP30,000
Shift patterns: Mon to Fri in a service 40 hours, on-call 1 or 2 per month.


Qualification: Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management (or working towards it)


We are seeking an experienced and committed Support Team Leader for our York-based service, supporting a team of 20 staff members. This service is tailored to individuals with mental health challenges and learning disabilities, providing gradual occupancy and a fully staffed team of support assistants.


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead, motivate, and manage a frontline support team, ensuring the effective implementation of care and support plans.
  2. Provide visible leadership, offering hands-on support within the rota and local on-call assistance.
  3. Mentor and develop staff, overseeing induction and ongoing training.
  4. Foster positive relationships with supported individuals, families, and external stakeholders.
  5. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, conducting assessments and implementing corrective actions.
  6. Manage budgets and resources effectively, adapting to the evolving needs of the service.
  7. Maintain clear communication across the team and with all key parties.

Essential Criteria:
  1. Proven supervisory or managerial experience within health and social care.
  2. Strong leadership, planning, and development skills.
  3. Excellent communication and IT proficiency.
  4. Understanding of regulatory requirements for mental health and learning disabilities.
  5. Ability to manage complex situations while encouraging collaboration.
  6. Dedication to ongoing personal and professional development.
  7. Full clean driving license with business use insurance.
