Looking for a flexible role that has that feel good factor? If you share our values and are based in or around Kelso and Coldstream we might have just the one for you!

We're on the lookout for a creative, proactive and positive individual who has a great sense of humour to join our amazing #TeamSBCSKelso as Support Practitioners on a permanent, part-time (16 hours per week) basis.

The Role

You'll become part of a friendly and dedicated team who support a number of people in Kelso and Coldstream, with learning disabilities, Autism and acquired brain injuries.

As a Support Practitioner, you will play a crucial role in assisting the people we support with all aspects of daily living, including helping to prepare meals, providing personal care, shopping and domestic tasks. Our teams adopt a person-centred approach to provide the highest quality support to enable the people we support to achieve their goals and aspirations, with a focus on maintaining and improving independence.

The great thing about this job is no two days are ever the same and the people we support have a wide range of interests including going swimming, walking, watching sport, gaming, quizzes, going to the cinema, along with doing arts and crafts. We'll be looking to you to be actively involved in their hobbies and support them to explore new interests.

Your support will enable individuals to not only maintain their independence and continue to live in their own home; you’ll also help them to play an active part in their community too.

About You

You don't need experience to start your career with us; we recruit on values and transferable skills. We'll pay you for your training and give you all the practical skills you'll need. We'll even put you through your SVQ qualification too!

All we’ll need you to bring is:

  • A caring and compassionate attitude.
  • The ability to work well in a team.
  • Great communication and organisational skills.
  • A positive attitude with a willingness to learn.
  • A creative drive to improve the lives of the individuals you support.
  • Confidence in the use of computers.

Having a full UK Manual driving licence would be beneficial but not essential for this role.

Shift Patterns

As we're dedicated to providing support, normal hours are between 9 am and 6:30 pm with occasional shifts after those hours for community activities.

There is an expectation for some weekend work which will usually fall on alternate weekends.

Sound interesting? What are you waiting for? Apply today, we can't wait to hear from you!
