Job description

About us

Looking for a rewarding career in Social Care?

At Sense Scotland, we take immense pride in our work and are currently seeking new talent to join us in supporting individuals with their everyday lives. Our vision is to help those we support lead fulfilling and happy lives, enabling them to achieve their own ambitions. We prioritise strong values, fostering warm relationships, and creating positive experiences. We value input from all staff members, ensuring meaningful outcomes through the commitment to our core values.

Join us in making a real difference and embark on a fulfilling journey at Sense Scotland.

About the service

Our Maryland 2 Housing Support Service offers an engaging and dynamic work environment where each day brings unique experiences. We are a dedicated team, committed to delivering exceptional person-centered care to five individuals who are primarily deafblind and have diverse, complex support needs, some of whom may not communicate verbally.

Our Team strives to empower those we support to lead fulfilling, independent lives through tailored support and engaging activities. Our core principle is value-based communication, customising our support to align with the unique requirements of each individual.

Who do we support?

At our Maryland 2 service in the Bellahouston area of Glasgow, we support five brilliant men aged between 30 and 60, each living in their own flat. They have a range of health conditions, including autism, deafblindness, and mobility challenges—but that never holds them back from living life to the full!

These gents are always up for some fun. From baking their much-loved chocolate muffins and playing music to showing off their dance moves or enjoying a gaming session, there’s never a dull moment here.

They’re also big wrestling fans, love a spot of shopping, and enjoy getting creative with arts and crafts. Right now, they’re transforming their garden into a sensory haven—planting flowers and learning new skills as they go.

And holidays? Absolutely! They love planning trips and social events with family and friends—and as part of the team, you’ll get to help make these plans a reality and join them on their adventures!

Sound like your kind of day? Come and be part of it!

You will work on a 1;2;1 or 2:1 basis assisting them with day-to-day living, assisting them and encouraging them to live happy meaningful lives and achieve their personal goals/ambitions both at home and in the wider community. Your role will be centred around building trusting relationships as a foundation to assist with practical tasks such as:

• Support within their own homes with personal care, housework, administering medication, meal preparation, support with finances companionship etc
• Liaise with families and other professionals to provide the best quality care
• Promote independence and individuality according to their Support Plan
• Record daily tasks and maintain accurate records
• Work as part of a team, effectively communicating with the staff team, families, and people supported

What’s the shift pattern?

Our Maryland 2 Service provides round-the-clock support every day of the year. As a Support Practitioner, you can be contracted up to 35 hours per week which means you will be required to work 21 shifts over the month therefore some weekend work is required.

Shifts include a mix of early shifts (07:30 – 14:30) and late shifts (14:30 – 21:30) with a requirement for some sleepover duties.
