Job description

Looking for a brand-new role with a sense of satisfaction you’ll struggle to find anywhere else?

Then you could be exactly who we’re looking for! We’re welcoming new team members to our amazing #TeamNith in Glasgow, with full-time and part-time opportunities available.

The role and the people you’ll support

You’ll support two brilliant brothers with an autism diagnosis in their shared home, helping them enjoy everyday life, build independence and achieve their goals.

The brothers enjoy watching their favourite TV shows, playing video games and having plenty of fun with the occasional prank! We’re looking for someone who will take the time to get to know them, discover what they enjoy and build a genuine relationship with them.

Most importantly, you’ll take the time to learn about their interests, respect their home and routines, and build genuine, positive relationships with both brothers.

If you’re kind, patient, reliable and ready for a role where no two days are the same, we’d love to hear from you.

You’ll be joining a brand new team where your support can make a real difference.

Together, you’ll help the brothers to:
  • Maintain their own home and enjoy the life they choose
  • Increase and maintain their independence
  • Receive support with all aspects of personal care
  • Develop their social, health and wellbeing
  • Work towards their individual goals and aspirations
About you

Although it would be great if you do have experience in care, it's not essential as we recruit on values and transferable skills. We’re looking for people who are enthusiastic, creative and willing to get involved in the things they enjoy.

What we’ll need you to bring:
  • Good, clear communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • A caring attitude
  • Respect for boundaries and people's homes
  • A positive approach to learning
  • An understanding of the importance of routines and following guidelines
  • Confidence in the use of computers

The brothers have barriers to their communication, so it's essential that you bring an excellent grasp of the English language.

Shift Patterns

As we’re dedicated to providing the best support that is tailored to the needs of each individual, these opportunities will involve working early mornings, days and evenings. Waking nights, weekends and public holidays would also form part of your rota on a rotational basis.

Waking night shifts are paid at your normal hourly rate, plus an additional payment of £20 per night.

Why you’ll love it here
  • You’ll have a meaningful job doing things that you enjoy - it often doesn't feel like work
  • No uniform - we wear our own casual clothes
  • We fund up to £500 towards driving lessons
  • We reimburse your SSSC registration and PVG fees
  • Access to professional development and career progression opportunities
  • Recommend a colleague bonus scheme
  • Access to a 24/7 independent employee assistance helpline
  • 26 days annual leave (rising by 5 days after 5 years) plus 4 paid bank holidays
  • Family friendly leave options, including family, parental, bereavement and special leave
  • Access to lots of discounts, including the cinema, gym memberships, holidays and shopping

If you’re kind, patient, creative and genuinely want to make a difference, we’d love to hear from you.

Successful candidates will be required to join the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme and be committed to working towards an SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare with the support from our Training Academy. If you’re successful in joining our team, we will need you to register with the SSSC within 3 months of starting your employment with us.

Please note - If you have spent more than 12 months out with the UK (excluding France, Germany. Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania or Spain) within the last 10 years while over the age of 18, you will be asked to provide a criminal record certificate from the relevant government/police authority as part of our pre-employment checks.

Cornerstone welcomes applications from all sections of the community and actively seeks to increase the diversity of our workforce.
