Job summary

Cornerstone is seeking Relief Support Practitioners in Dundee to help people with disabilities live as independently as possible. You'll join a flexible relief team, covering shifts when colleagues are on leave, training or absent, and ensuring high-quality care.

No prior care experience is required—training is provided. PVG checks, SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare, and ongoing support from a friendly team help you grow and make a meaningful difference every day.

What You'll Be Doing

As a relief Support Practitioner, you'll play an important role in making sure that the people we support continue to receive high-quality care when colleagues are on leave, training or absent.

You'll support individuals with disabilities and additional support needs to live as independently as possible by helping with: -

  • Daily living, medication and personal care
  • Shopping and managing finances
  • Cooking and household tasks
  • Building confidence and independence

No two days are the same. You'll also have the opportunity to support people to enjoy the things they love, whether it's arts & crafts, gardening, swimming, going to the cinema, enjoying meals out, attending discos or simply getting out for a walk.

Who We're Looking For

You don't need experience or qualifications in care, we recruit for values, attitude and potential. If you're a good communicator, kind, reliable and passionate about helping others, we'll provide all the training and support you'll need.

Shift patterns

Our teams provide support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Shift patterns include: -

  • Early mornings
  • Evenings
  • Weekends
  • Public holidays
  • Sleepovers
  • Waking nights

Please note that induction and training times will likely fall within day time hours Monday-Friday, so we will need you to bring an element of flexibility to allow you to attend essential training and inductions courses. Advance notice will always be given.

Additional Information

Successful candidates will be required to join the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme and be willing to work towards an SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare, supported by our Training Academy.

If you've spent more than 12 months outside the UK (excluding France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania or Spain) within the last 10 years while aged 18 or over, you'll be required to provide a criminal record certificate from the relevant government or police authority as part of our pre-employment checks.

If you're successful, you'll also be required to register with the SSSC within three months of starting employment.
