About this role

Support officer, Farming in Protected Landscapes

Based at Hexham, Northumberland with some home working.

Part-time/full-time hours available, minimum three days per week.

Fixed term to 31/3/25.

This is an opportunity to work alongside farmers and landowners, supporting them to access funding streams as part of the DEFRA Farming in Protected Landscapes Funding Programme.

You will need:

• Demonstrable understanding of the issues facing rural communities and businesses, especially those within the upland farming sector.
• Confidence in the use of information technology systems, Microsoft Office 365, MS Teams, and GIS applications.
• Project administration/management experience, such as verification of claims or detailed contractual information, monitoring projects.
• A working knowledge of local and regional government structures in England.
• To be very methodical with excellent attention to detail.
