This is a new opportunity for a Support Secretary for Breast Services within the Women’s & Children’s Division at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, based at Chorley & District Hospital.

You will support medical staff by providing secretarial and administrative support, facilitating communication between staff, GPs, patients, and others, and covering team leader roles during absences.

Main duties
  • Be the point of contact for inquiries, referring to senior staff when necessary.
  • Provide administrative support to consultants and nurses.
  • Manage electronic calendars, organize meetings, and take minutes.
  • Coordinate meetings, including venue and refreshment arrangements.
  • Follow up on issues to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Maintain administrative systems, files, and papers, and prepare for daily activities.
  • Attend meetings to take minutes and produce documentation.
  • Organize meetings and follow-up actions.
  • Support team members during absences.
  • Use databases and computer packages for record-keeping and statistics.
  • Transcribe correspondence using digital dictation and medical terminology.
  • Coordinate with junior medical staff and manage rotas.
Person specification
Qualifications
  • GCSE English and Mathematics grade A-C
  • RSA 3 typing Qualification
  • ECDL or equivalent
  • Audio typing speed of 60 wpm
