Job summary

A leading health board in Wales is seeking a motivated Support Medical Secretary for its Gastroenterology department. The ideal candidate will manage administrative tasks, support medical professionals, and possess excellent communication skills. Experience in similar roles and knowledge of Microsoft Office are essential. This is a fixed-term position for 12 months, located in Llantrisant.

Qualifications

  • Experience of working in an office environment or in a similar role.
  • Previous NHS experience is preferred.
  • Level 3 Speaking/Listening in Welsh or higher is an advantage.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated Support Medical Secretary to join the busy Gastroenterology department at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital in Llantrisant.

The successful candidate will support the department with administrative tasks including audio typing and waiting list management. The role will work closely with the Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) team but will support the whole service.

The applicant will require excellent communication skills when liaising with patients and colleagues.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide a comprehensive and high quality secretarial and administrative support to the Consultants, Nurses and other professionals within the Gastroenterology department in the Planned Care Directorate.

The post holder will also be expected to liaise in a professional manner with colleagues, visitors and patients and undertake a wide spectrum of administrative and secretarial duties.

The post holder will be expected to manage and prioritise their own workload using experience and initiative.
