Job description

Job Summary

Salary will be pro-rated for part-time and term-time hours. Please note that this position is temporary.

You will provide support to children and young people with additional support needs within our school.

You will be responsible for the personal care needs of pupils and, under the direction of the class teacher, you will help pupils with specific learning activities, follow instructions, and organise their work. When required, you will supervise pupils outside the classroom, such as in the playground, corridors, dining area, during PE, and organised school trips.

You should have a pleasant, tolerant manner and a proven ability to establish positive relationships with children and young people. Experience working with children and young people with additional support needs and an interest in their development is essential.

A relevant qualification in childcare is desirable.

PVG / Disclosure Scotland

The following criteria apply to all roles within East Dunbartonshire Council where PVG/Disclosure checks are required:

For posts considered Regulated Roles under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020, successful candidates will need to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check before employment is confirmed.

Successful candidates will be responsible for the cost of the check, which will be deducted from the first salary payment. In some cases, this deduction may be made in installments following employment commencement, subject to approval by the HR & OD Manager. If an employee leaves before full deduction, the remaining amount will be deducted from the final salary.

This criterion also applies to existing employees applying for roles requiring a PVG/Disclosure check.
