Job description

Location: Harestanes Primary School, Mauchline Court, Kirkintilloch, G66 2SA

Salary: £23,942.69 - £26,023.07 per year (pro rata)

Contract Type: Temporary

Position Type: Part Time

Hours: 27.5 hours per week

Job Summary

Please note that salary will be pro-rated for part-time and term-time hours. This position is temporary until December 2025.

You will provide support to children and young people with additional support needs within our ELR unit based at Harestanes Primary School.

Your responsibilities include supporting pupils with personal care needs, including complex feeding and toileting, and assisting with specific learning activities under the direction of the class/subject teacher. You will also supervise pupils outdoors, in corridors, dining areas, during PE, and during organised school trips.

We seek candidates with a tolerant, pleasant manner and proven ability to build positive relationships with children and young people. Experience working with children with additional support needs and an interest in their development is essential.

A relevant childcare qualification is desirable.

PVG / Disclosure Scotland

All roles within East Dunbartonshire Council requiring PVG/Disclosure checks will adhere to the following:

Successful candidates for regulated roles under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020 will need to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check before employment is confirmed. The cost of the check will be deducted from the first salary payment, with possible instalments and deductions if employment ends early.

This requirement applies to both new applicants and existing employees applying for roles requiring a PVG/Disclosure check.
