Support Engineer | Financial Services – Support Engineer | £45,000 + Bonus + Benefits | Hybrid, LDN

One of my financial clients is seeking a Support Engineer to work with them and they are aiming for this person to develop out there infrastructure experience further within the firm (the desirable skills are things to learn!). You will report directly to the Infrastructure Manager and serve as the first point of contact for both internal users experiencing IT issues and clients using the firm’s proprietary web application. The Support Engineer will be responsible for effectively managing the IT ticketing system and ensuring that support requests are resolved within defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Key duties include overseeing user access and application licensing across various platforms, including Office 365 and Active Directory. The role involves setting up user devices such as laptops, iPhones, and Android devices, as well as performing occasional hardware upgrades—such as increasing memory or storage on laptops.

Additionally, the Support Engineer will monitor company systems using designated tools to proactively identify and address potential issues. The role may also involve contributing to technical projects as required.

Details of this Support Engineer role:

Paying up to £45,000 + Bonus + Benefits

Closest station is Covent Garden

Hybrid working. 3-4 days per week in the office

Essential Skills Required:

  • Installed, configured, and troubleshot Windows client operating systems.
  • Performed setup, upgrades, and diagnostics on desktop and laptop systems.
  • Gained hands-on experience working with Linux-based environments.
  • Possess foundational knowledge of networking concepts, including IP addressing, DHCP, and DNS.
  • Managed user accounts and permissions within Office 365 and Active Directory.
  • Configured and managed mobile devices using Mobile Device Management (MDM) tools such as Microsoft Intune.

Desirable Skills Required:

  • Some experience using Microsoft Azure or other cloud provider
  • Experience with managing Linux Server systems
  • Experience managing and configuring Cisco Switches
  • Experience managing Firewalls
  • Some experience with managing Microsoft SQL server
  • Some familiarity with a virtualisation platform such as VMWare or Hyper-V
