About the role

As a Support Engineer at OS, you’ll be at the heart of a collaborative and innovative environment. You’ll work closely with software engineers, stakeholders, and fellow team members every day building strong relationships and ensuring our customer-facing solutions run smoothly.

This role is more than just support it’s about driving continuous improvement. You’ll play a key role in enhancing our support capabilities across the entire lifecycle by coaching, mentoring, and sharing knowledge. Main responsibilities:

Participate in daily team stand-ups and attend project sprint reviews

Support, maintain, patch, and deploy existing and new services, while interpreting system monitoring logs and outputs, troubleshooting, and providing an escalation route for the successful resolution of operational incidents and problems

Proactively safeguard services by continually assessing and improving monitoring, resilience, and security

Continually identify and implement support process improvements

Mentor, teach and support the technical knowledge and skills of the team

There will be an expectation to join an on call rota to provide 2nd Line support for existing live systems out of hours

You’ll bring solid experience working with APIs, and a strong foundation in technologies like Java, PostgreSQL (including PostGIS for spatial data), and Azure Cloud Services. Your understanding of cloud-based architecture including deployment, data updates, scaling, and monitoring will be key to your success in this role.

Good knowledge of Azure Cloud hosting technologies

Experience with PostgreSQL databases (including PostGIS spatial extension)

Good understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and software engineering best ractices

Experience investigating the root cause of failures to understand why they have occurred and propose/enact solutions, and work with external suppliers if/where required

Experience providing consultancy to Project Teams on the performance, configuration, and functionality of existing systems, and ensure that new or updated systems will be effectively supported

Salary – £41,892.00 to £48,874.00 (dependent on experience)
