Job Description: Support and Personal Care Workers

We are interested in hearing from Support and Personal Care Workers who want to join our team and assist with day-to-day support for service users within Brighton and Hove County Council Residential and Supported Living Units.

We are looking for competent care assistants to support physically and/or mentally challenged service users in their daily lives, promoting independence as much as possible. The support required varies and includes caring for individuals recovering from operations or illnesses, those with mild to severe learning disabilities, mental health issues, sensory impairments, dysphagia, epilepsy, and early age-related conditions, particularly dementia. The rewarding nature of helping others makes this role fulfilling.

Note: As we provide services to the public, customers, and service users, fluency in English, both verbal and written, is essential.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Following care plans, routines, guidelines, risk assessments, and Behaviour Management Plans
• Personal hygiene, bathing, and dressing
• Administering medication as required (training provided)
• Supporting mobility: moving, handling, hoisting
• Assisting with physical therapy exercises
• Preparing meals and feeding as needed
• Providing social interaction and emotional support
• Household chores: tidying, cleaning, washing, ironing, shopping
• Completing paperwork such as handover notes and informing supervisors or physicians of unusual events
• Responding quickly and responsibly in emergencies

Requirements and skills:

• Proven experience as a personal care assistant
• Commitment to health and safety
• Ability to do housework and cook
• Well-organized and reliable
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Positive and compassionate attitude
• Strong ethics
• Physical stamina

A good Care Assistant is compassionate, supportive, and well-rounded. Maintaining reliability and organization is essential to provide the necessary support and comfort to clients who are recovering, disabled, or frail.

Training and annual refresher courses will be provided and paid for by Guidant Global.

Access to transportation is required to reach various sites throughout Brighton and Hove.
