Job summary

Bridgend County Borough Council is seeking caring individuals to join the Support at Home Service as Care Workers, providing person-centred care in clients’ own homes across our communities.

Experience is welcome but not required; a passion to make a positive difference matters most. We offer flexible hours, a competitive hourly rate (£14.14–£18.25, weekend £18.25), 25 hours per week, and opportunities for training, progression, and pension benefits.

  • Providing person centred support tailored to individual needs, recognising strengths, capabilities and desired outcomes.

  • Participating in supervision sessions and career development opportunities and maintaining professional development.
  • To be aware of safeguarding responsibilities and report any concerns.

Your key responsibilities will include: -

  • Providing person centred support tailored to individual needs, recognising strengths, capabilities and desired outcomes. Encouraging people to make informed choices recognising what matters to them in their lives.
  • Providing support to promote independence with aspects of daily living as identified in individuals care and support plans which may include diet/food preparation, assistance with medication and personal hygiene.
  • To work as part of a team alongside social workers, therapists, and health colleagues to meet identified outcomes.
  • Participating in supervision sessions and career development opportunities as agreed with your manager and actively engage in training in order to maintain your own professional development and registration with Social Care Wales and enhance competency within your role.
  • To be aware of your responsibilities safeguarding individuals at risk and report any concerns which may place the individual, you, or others at risk.

Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.

An Enhanced with Adults Barred list criminal records check by the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) is a requirement for this post.
