Job summary

Nycil is seeking a Support Assistant to assist a gentleman in Harrogate with domestic duties, meals, and community access. The role involves 16 hours per week, rising to 22, with shifts negotiable across days and occasional evenings.

Training and support will be provided to help the individual engage in activities and travel by train within the region. Ideal candidates will live locally to Harrogate and share interests in music, films and history; pension option may be available for those over

• Support access to the community and travel to activities by train (e.g., Leeds, Ripon).

Job description

A Support Assistant is required for a gentleman in his 20’s who lives independently in Harrogate. The young man has cerebral palsy, epilepsy and autism, he does not require personal care but support with domestic duties, cooking balanced meals and accessing the community. He enjoys travel and going to places such as Leeds, Ripon etc by train, going to the cinema.

Domestic duties would include making his bed, laundry, ironing etc.

There are initially 16 hours per week available possibly rising to 22 hours. These hours can be taken over 2 full days or shorter shift hours over more days, to be negotiated at interview level. Some occasional evening would be required depending on activity

The rate of pay is £13.25 per hour (due to increase to £13.79)

The ideal candidate would live locally to the Harrogate area, have similar interest in music, films & history as the young man.

If the successful applicant is over the age of 21, there is an option of a pension scheme.
